Solaris wins deal in Czech Republic to supply their first hydrogen buses

Czech carrier Dopravní podnik města Ústí nad Labem has signed a framework agreement with Solaris Bus & Coach for the supply of up to 20 hydrogen-powered buses. This is Solaris’s first contract for hydrogen-powered buses in the Czech Republic.

The transport operator in the Czech city of Ústí nad Labem and Solaris Bus & Coach have signed a framework agreement for the purchase of emission-free Urbino 12 hydrogen buses. The framework contract is valid for 8 years and during this time the carrier may order up to 20 hydrogen-powered buses. In the case of an order placed, the vehicle delivery period is 420 days, counted from the moment of signing the purchase contract. This is the first contract for hydrogen buses in the Czech Republic, but it is not the first cooperation with this city. Currently, public transport there is carried out with the participation of 44 Solaris buses with various types of drives.

“Over the years, we have delivered over 1,200 vehicles with various drives to the Czech Republic: diesel, CNG and trolleybuses. The latest contract for the supply of up to 20 hydrogen buses is absolutely groundbreaking – I congratulate the carrier Dopravní podnik města Ústí nad Labem on this prestigious investment. Looking at the pace of development of hydrogen technology and the growing interest of operators, our company is convinced every day that we are on the right path in supporting the decarbonisation of public transport” – said Petros Spinaris, member of the Solaris board of directors.
