The draft amendment to the law on assistance to Ukrainian citizens in connection with an armed conflict in the territory of that country, which provides for an extension of 60 days for the payment of benefits for people offering accommodation and meals to refugees from Ukraine, has already been included in the list of program and legislative works of the Council of Ministers.
The government plans to adopt it in Q2. Pursuant to the regulations currently in force, benefits in the amount of PLN 40 per day per person are paid in arrears, for a maximum of 60 days.
“The effective period of the Act of March 12, 2022 on assistance to Ukrainian citizens in connection with the armed conflict in the territory of that country […] has brought experiences indicating the need to clarify some of its provisions, as well as extend the deadline for the payment of benefits […] by another 60 days “- we read in the list.
The draft provides for clarifying and detailing some of the provisions of the Act, as well as introducing supplementary solutions for the payment of benefits under the Act in the field of financial support for entities providing accommodation and meals to refugees from Ukraine, and clarifying the provisions of the Act in the scope of tasks performed by the Social Insurance Institution.
The government’s plenipotentiary for war refugees from Ukraine, Paweł Szefernaker, informed yesterday that the government is planning to introduce such a solution. Estimates show that there are about 600,000 with Polish families. refugees.
