PKN Orlen shifts portfolio to green with 140 million pln investment commitments

The installation will be built on the premises of the production plant in Płock, and work will begin in March 2022.

“The transformation of the concern towards a multi-energy group is based on renewable energy and gas, but also on low-emission refinery and petrochemical production. According to the strategy, we plan to allocate a total of PLN 140 billion to investments in the Orlen Group by 2030, ”said President Daniel Obajtek.

TGTU III will replace the partially worn out OGK I installation (Hydrosulfreen I – flue gas desulphurization). It will also enable the reduction of pollutants from this unit, which means that finally gas with about half the content of sulfur dioxide will be released into the atmosphere. In turn, for the entire production plant in Płock, the implementation of this investment will mean a reduction in sulfur dioxide pollution by over 20%.

“This is the largest undertaking that will be implemented by Orlen Projekt in our 50-year history,” added Marcin Kasza, the president of Orlen Projekt.

The PKN Orlen Group manages six refineries in Poland, the Czech Republic and Lithuania, and is also active in Poland and Canada. Its consolidated sales revenues reached PLN 131.5 billion in 2021. The company has been listed on the WSE since 1999.
