PERN successfully completed the power consumption test at the request of Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE) – the operator of the power grid. This means that from January 1, 2022, the company will be able to become an active participant in the capacity market, PERN reported.
PERN decided to take such a step because it means participation in the development of innovative products on the electricity market, strengthening the national power system and more effective management of electricity consumption, explained.
A positive test result was a necessary condition for the commencement of DSR services by PERN, i.e. a temporary reduction in electricity consumption at the request of the Transmission System Operator with contracted parameters of 6 MW. From January 1, 2022, PERN will receive a monthly flat-rate remuneration for its readiness to intervene in reducing power consumption, underlined.
In order to perform the test and possible future reductions in power consumption, online devices for measuring electricity consumption were installed at PERN’s facilities. The data from the measurements are visible in real time on the platform made available to PERN, which allows for current and historical monitoring of electricity consumption at each of the objects submitted to the DSR program, according to the material.
“Our priority remains the delivery of crude oil and fuels in the right quality and at the right time. Thanks to our technical and organizational capabilities, we can take part in innovative projects and use them for our own needs. Participation in the capacity market is one of the elements that allows us not only to optimize energy consumption, but also – through our actions – to positively affect the stabilization and security of the electricity market in Poland, ”said PERN President Igor Wasilewski.
