Chinese Alibaba opens huge new fulfilment centre

The logistics arm of Chinese tech and e-commerce company Alibaba is to open a 10,650 sqm fulfilment centre in Panattoni Park Łódź West.

The fulfilment centre is to support sellers in the CEE region who use the AliExpress business-to-business selling portal. It will also be used for the company’s deliveries to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, and Austria. The company is aiming for its sellers to be able to deliver goods in just one day to Poland’s largest cities and within 3 days for every other location. The platform’s consumer base in Poland now exceeds 11 mln users.

“E-commerce is growing at lightning speed. In 2015, only half of all internet users in the country shopped online and now the figure is almost 8 out of 10. Moreover, by 2026, the value of e-commerce in Poland is expected to reach PLN 162 bln, which is more than three times greater than in 2018” said Kamil Kwiatkowski, the senior leasing manager of Panattoni.

Maxon Nieruchomości represented AliBaba during the negotiation process.
