Newag has signed a contract with PKP Intercity for the delivery of 10 multi-system electric locomotives with additional services and maintenance services for an estimated PLN 210.25 million. The contract provides for the option to order up to 5 more locomotives with maintenance services before the expiry of 20 months from the date of conclusion of the contract; the value of the contract, including the option right, is PLN 315.38 million. Deliveries of the locomotives will be made in 2023-2025, the representatives of the company and the ordering party informed.
“The approval of locomotives will be a great challenge, as there are as many as 6 countries. I think we will manage to ensure that the locomotives produced in Poland can go abroad. Newag will keep its word and the order will be on time and of appropriate quality, ”said president Zbigniew Konieczek during the press conference.
Earlier, conference participants informed that the locomotives will run in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Germany and Austria.
