JSW KOKS S.A. will modernize battery No. 4 in the Przyjaźń coking plant. The company has signed a contract with the main contractor for an investment worth over 400 hundred million zlotys, and the work to modernize the battery has already started.
“Agreements have already been signed with suppliers of ceramic materials for the construction of the ceramic massif and with the contractor of the chimney. The procedure of signing a contract with contractors of electrical facilities and installations as well as a stand for repair and replacement of rammers is in progress. (…)” – explains Sławomir Starzyński, the press spokesman of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa.
Battery modernization is dictated by ecological considerations. – It will bring real environmental benefits in the form of reduced emissions of dust, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides – says Sławomir Starzyński.
It will also save the company some money. All thanks to changes in the technology of filling the coke oven battery chambers from the charging system to the compacted one. It is for this reason that the exclusively used type 35 coal (hard coking coal) will be replaced by type 34 – gas coking coal.
