Enea backs plan to build gas and steam units at the Kozienice Power Plant

Enea upholds the plan to build gas and steam units at Kozienice Power Plant despite the current situation on the natural gas market, informed President Paweł Szczeszek.
“We are still convinced to build gas capacity in Kozienice. We are currently preparing the tender. We are simultaneously working with Gaz-System on the gas connection”, said Szczeszek during the conference call.

Enea has also established a new subsidiary to deal with the construction of the block - Enea Elko Gaz.

In September 2021, the management board of Enea informed that it was talking with banks about the possibility of financing the construction of gas and steam units with a capacity of 2.1-2.2 GW at Kozienice Power Plant, which will replace the 200 MW coal units planned to be shut down. The company assumes that the construction of the first block will start in January 2025.

The basis for the operation of the Enea capital group is the mining of hard coal as well as the production, distribution and trade of electricity. The group's distribution network, located in western and south-western Poland, covers 20% of the country's territory. The company has been listed on the WSE since 2008.
