EDP Renewables purchases 51 percent of huge 70 MW wind farm in Poland

An agreement reached between EDP Renewables and NSG UK Enterprises Ltd this week guaranteed EDPR 51 percent of the power drawn from a 70 MW Polish wind farm (35.7 MW) for the next 10 years, as of Jan. 1, 2022.

This power purchase agreement will further expand the supplies of the world’s fourth-largest renewable energy producer. EDPR will also obtain an EcoVadis sustainability scorecard as a result of the arrangement, no later than six months after signing the contract. That scorecard will be maintained for the duration of the agreement as a means of demonstrating the quality of EDPR’s sustainability management system.

“We are pleased to have closed this PPA with NSG UK, as part of its ambition to expand the use of green energy in the development of its business,” Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade, EDPR and EDP Group CEO, said. “The closing of this PPA confirms the Polish market’s commitment to renewable energy and underlines EDPR’s position as a leading player in the region for more than 10 years in contributing to the country’s energy transition.”
