Budimex has started reconstruction at railway station in Ełk

The construction company Budimex has started demolition works related to the reconstruction of the railway station in Ełk. The area has been marked and secured, as well as zones of historical importance entered in the register of monuments.

The contractor has already disassembled nearly 10 km of the traction network and 70 steel support structures for the network, as well as disassembled 6.5 km of tracks and 11 turnouts.

Budimex is also planning further demolition works – 11 km of tracks and the completion of further 23 turnouts and 10 support structures of the traction network.

“The winter period, which may slow down or prevent the performance of some works, will be 100 percent. used for the preparation of all details of works, including the implementation schedule and the phasing of works for the entire period of two years of the contract, so that when PKP PLK obtains the building permit and the advent of favorable weather conditions, the works can start 100% fully” – explains Mikołaj Waśniewski, contract director on behalf of Budimex.

The contract in the design and build system for the modernization of the Ełk station was signed on August 26, 2021. According to the contractor, the contract is completed within 28 months, and the warranty period is 5 years. In addition to investments in Czechowice-Dziedzice and the Warszawa Wschodnia station, the company also carries out railway contracts in Gdynia and on the E30 and E59 lines in Silesia.
