The new office in Krakow, scheduled to open in July, will focus on developing advanced computer methods for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
AstraZeneca has been associated with Poland for thirty years. The company regularly invests and increases its involvement, primarily in the research and development area. The company’s management decided to go a step further and decided to open a second office in Poland, this time in the Małopolskie Voivodeship, in Krakow. Its employees will focus on the latest computer systems used during a clinical trial in the area of managing the trial process or collecting clinical data, as well as managing the course of global clinical trials.
As part of the new investment, AstraZeneca envisages the development of close cooperation with Sano – Center for Individualized Computational Medicine, an international research foundation, i.e. an institute dealing with the development of computer medicine. Sano’s activity focuses on developing advanced computer methods for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. We are very excited about the new opportunities for cooperation with partners such as AstraZeneca. I believe that together we will manage to do a lot of good for the future of medicine, and above all, patients not only in Poland, but all over the world – emphasizes Dr. Akradiusz Sitek, Director of the Sano Center for Computational Medicine, President of the Management Board.
The new office of the company will be located in the vicinity of the AGH University of Science and Technology. Stanisław Staszic, one of the best universities in Poland. The opening of a new office and further development of related partnerships is another example of the company’s ambition in the area of research and development, illustrating the company’s growing commitment to the innovation ecosystem in our country.
