Government tightens Sunday trade ban

President Andrzej Duda has just signed an act aimed at tightening up the ban on Sunday trading. The project is a response to the mass opening of stores on the last day of the week, which is allowed by an exception in the act. For many entrepreneurs, this can reduce revenues, but also the ability to reach customers. Among entrepreneurs, however, there are many less honest ones.

“The purpose of the Act of October 14, 2021 amending the Act on the restriction of trade on Sundays and public holidays and on certain other days is to eliminate the incorrect application of the exclusions contained in the Act, allowing for trade and activities related to trading on Sundays and public holidays” – emphasized the Law Firm .

The authors of the amendment want the main goal of the new regulations to be that stores do not use the post office method to circumvent the ban, and thus can be opened on Sundays. The new regulations will enter into force on the first day of the month following the lapse of three months from the date of publication.
