After 15 years, “Nasza klasa” ceases to exist, surrenders to Facebook and LI

The Nasza Klasa portal, established by UW students, at its peak had 14 million active users. However, it lost out to LinkedIn and Facebook and was visited by just over a million people in the last weeks of operation.

The Nasza Klasa portal officially debuted on November 11, 2006. It was a social networking site whose aim was to find friends and colleagues from the old days. Over time, the portal began to develop. Introduced, among others micropayments that were settled in a special currency – euro sponges, as well as “herring” – a tool similar to the Facebook table. At its peak (June 2010), the portal had 14 million active users. Within 10 years, their number had dropped to just over a million. Therefore, the owner, Ringiel Axel Springer Polska, decided to close the website on July 27, 2021.

The portal was founded by 22-year-old computer science student Maciej Popowicz and his colleagues. After selling his shares in 2007, the man was hailed the youngest millionaire in Poland. The man did not stop his business adventure. He is still active in the IT industry. He is currently developing the “Fishing Clash” internet game, which brought his company PLN 85 million in revenue.
